Praying for A Stranger

In my daily prayer today I prayed for a stranger. It felt weird at first because she is just an online acquaintance. But I said I would pray for her and so I did.

I did not know what to pray about. I did not know her concerns. All I knew was that she was bothered by something. But by what? By the long-distance affair? Is an old flame coming back into the picture? Is she pregnant? I do not know.

And so I just said: Dear Lord I lift up [name of online acquaintance] to you. She is bothered and not at peace right now. I do not know what her problem is. But whatever it is, please calm her heart and appease her soul that You have a hand in everything that is happening in her life. Lord I do not know her well, but in our few interactions, I see she is a person with a beautiful soul. Please take care of her Lord.

Strange but it actually felt good to pray like that. I mean I usually pray for strangers but in a more general sense. Like, I pray for the poor, the sick, the soldiers in the war. But it's different when you pray for a specific person. A stranger by normal criteria, but nevertheless someone you interacted with.

And so now I decide to pray for a specific stranger at least once a week. It could be that specific kid begging by the window of my car. Or the cleaning lady in our building. Or the guard in the parking lot.

Helps me realize that I am not alone in this world. That we are interconnected. That we are all children of GOD.

now that i know you want to be prayed for, you'll be the one i pray for tomorrow. :D

BTW, thanks for reminding me of the title of that SONG through your blog: GOD BLESS THE BROKEN ROAD. That's the song I liked when I heard it on American Idol last year.
